Edward Anderton Reade, (15 March 1807 – 12 February 1886)〔(The patronage bureaucracy in north India By Peter Penner )〕,〔(New General Catalog of Old Books and Authors, Author names starting with Re )〕 was a British civil servant in India who served in Bengal from 1826 to 1886.〔(Bengal By Calcutta Historical Society )〕 On 10 February 1835 he was appointed as Joint Magistrate & Deputy Collector of Belah.〔(The Asiatic journal and monthly register for British India and its dependencies #244 )〕 On 8 September 1836 he was appointed as Magistrate & Collector of Goruckpore.〔(The Asiatic Journal and Monthly Miscellany By East India Company #203 )〕 On 24 October 1836 he was given additional responsibility of Deputy Opium Agent for management of provision of opium in Goruckpore.〔(The Asiatic Journal and Monthly Miscellany By East India Company #292 )〕 He remained collector of Goruckpore (at least) till October 1844.〔(Parliamentary papers By Great Britain.
